The wonderful wedding of Nia & Nathan at Ocean View Gower
How you both met
We knew who each other were as we had a mutual friend. One evening we were out with a completely different group of friends and got talking and it just stemmed from there really (with a fair bit of effort on his part!!)
On a random Wednesday morning whilst I was in work I received a text saying shall we get some picnic stuff and go for a walk tonight down the Gower somewhere? So, the walk took us to my favourite place, Rhossili, where things became a little weird for a while (nerves, I think!!) and then out came a ring and a babbling man… it was lush!!
Planning your wedding any tips/ how you found the planning process
We found the planning process pretty straight forward to be honest, we knew what we wanted and we didn`t let anyone else influence us as it was our day (or days in our case) and we just rolled with it! It really can be stress free as long as you remember why you are doing it and who you are doing it for!
The décor – how you chose your theme
We both just decided on Purple, there wasn`t much discussion about it, was just one of those things! There were plenty of things that fitted in with our theme, and it was quite understated. We both love skulls and such so we tried to subtly incorporate that into the day.
We used Blooming Belles wedding florist to tie everything together and decorate the room. Sarah is absolutely fantastic, she took care of everything and it was all perfect – all we did was give her the ideas that we had. From centre pieces, to setting up our table plan perfectly she really was amazing.
Hair & make up
For hair, I wouldn`t trust anyone other than Kelly Nelson of Fuchsia Hive Hair and Beauty. She is a mobile hairdresser with years of experience and gave me exactly what I wanted for all 8 people that she did!! Getting up at 5 in the morning to make sure everything was perfect, couldnt thank her enough!
Make up was done by Stephanie Kirstie Hughes, again, I couldnt fault her! She did us a fantastic deal, gave us all exactly what we wanted and even hung around to do touch ups before we left.
My dress has a funny story. I actually got onto Say Yes To The Dress UK after years of watching the US version. I travelled all the way to Essex to choose a dress, although I fell in love with one on screen, something was telling me it wasnt quite the one. I had seen one at home in Cariad Bridal and had to go back to try it on. It definitely was the one I felt amazing, was so comfortable all day and if you could see it now, it absolutely tells the stories of the day!
Any advice to future couples planning their wedding
Our advice would be, embrace the planning, its the most exciting part! Try not to go overboard with things, we chopped and changed ideas so much, an in the end we realised simple was much better. Remember that this day is for you, yes, its lovely to share it with family and friends but they are there to celebrate YOUR day. Do what you want, have who you want there, and take it all in! Most of all, make sure you enjoy every step!
